Shoes for the Soul: The Sully Wong x ONEXONE Hope Sneaker

It’s rare that a shoe turns out to not only be good for your sole, but also your soul. But that’s the mission of the new Sully Wong sneaker collaboration with the ONEXONE foundation, a charity that seeks to raise money for the pediatric wing of the Hospital Mirebalais in Haiti and the Million Meals project here at home in Canada that provides meals to children in need.

The new sneaker is a unisex creation, which features ONEXONE’s iconic red and black signature colours, combined with Sully Wong’s clean, low-cut silhouette style. With only 360 pairs available, the Sully Wong x ONEXONE Hope shoe retails for $150, with 50 percent of those proceeds going to the charitable cause.

“I have always encouraged everyone to leverage their business for good,” says Joelle Berdugo-Adler, founder of ONEXONE foundation on the brand’s site. “George and Henry’s sneaker is a prime example of their commitment to creating ‘good’ with their incredible talent and creativity. We are so proud and honoured to be collaborating with Sully Wong.”

A while back, Sully Wong created some equally striking designs in collaboration with Karim Rashid. All signs point to the fact that these joint ventures could be an ongoing mission for the Toronto-based shoe brand, which was founded by George Sully and Henry Wong following a meeting of minds and mutual love for fly aesthetics.

With regard to the newest sneaker, I personally love that it’s a unisex style — a major trend in Canadian design of late — which would look equally at home teamed with a pair of men’s board shorts or matched with a pair of leather joggers for the female athletic look. Added details include eight ONEXONE-inspired custom-lace eyelets, a removable commemorative ONEXONE footpad and a darling little bag to keep that white looking gleaming bright.

As far as where you can get your hands on these benevolent beauts, simply head over to the Sully Wong site while they’re still in stock.
