Not Even a Streaker Could Overshadow Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2014 Collection (Runway Review)

The Scene: Nothing like a streaker to generate some buzz, though not likely the one Gurung intended. Halfway through the designer's show — in front of an audience that included Carolina Herrera, Hailee Steinfeld and Karolina Kurkova — a streaking prankster took to the runway in nothing but a trench coat, red tube socks, a felt crown and a G-string. Few and far between were those in attendance who didn't take to social media immediately.

The Inspiration: A former kingdom in the Himalayas that Prabal Gurung visited on his way back from Nepal.

The Look: Textured oversized chunky knits with tightly knotted scarves, tailored jackets, blanket coats, pantsuits, lush furs, slit print skirts and dresses, eveningwear embellished with crystals and feathers and beautifully draped and knotted fabrics that made for separates and dresses that reflected the designer’s inspiration of an untouched remote land.

The Accessories: Strappy sandals (interesting choice for Fall/Winter…)

The Beauty: Hair was parted in the middle and blown out pencil straight, while makeup was very muted — clean skin and a neutral lip.

The Takeaway: One of the designer's strongest collections to date, his knits will surely be on many wish lists come next season.
