You Should Know: Carry-On Arm Candy from Jessica Jensen

Canada is a little lacking when it comes to handbag designers. Aside from Toronto’s own Jeanne Lottie and Montreal’s Matt & Nat, few other independent purse makers call Canada home, and even fewer make it into our wardrobes. Jessica Jensen is different. Since launching her namesake handbag label in 2008, the brand has become a favourite among celebs. Katie Holmes, Helen Mirren, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Connelly have all been spotted carrying an original JJ. Clearly, these knowing stars are on to something…

Personally, I love a good tote or holdall, especially as travel carry-ons. Contrary to what anyone tells you, size DOES matter… at least in the bag department, where Jessica Jensen’s pieces come into their own. Her High Street shopper (a steal at $298) is generously roomy, crafted from Italian Saffiano leather and trimmed with tanned handles and gunmetal hardware.

The Jackie Tote ($598) is the perfect always-in-style addition to your spring closet, its mushroom-hued Italian full-grain leather taking you from brunch to boardroom, with all your essentials at hand. Meanwhile, the Cumberland Carryall Set is the perfect accessory for your next jet-setting jaunt, with a 2-in-1 bag and wristlet for passports and the like. Again, it's made in that Italian Saffiano leather, but comes in a high-density nylon to protect from the obligatory torment of the airport bag scanners.

From snooping on Jessica Jensen’s Instagram page, we found a bevy of resort-ready purses in bright yellows, boysenberry and python skin, which will be available on her online store come April 24.

I’m literally looking at these bags like they're Pokémon and fully intend to collect them all once they come out! How about you?
